Coverage of Drug Pricing Study in US News & World Report

US News and World Report covered Drs. Hernandez and Gellad's latest JAMA paper, which examined the effect of manufacturer discounts on the list prices of branded pharmaceuticals in the US. The team found that list prices from 159%, while net prices rose by 60%--three times the rate of inflation. Gellad noted, "Net prices are not necessarily what patients pay. A lot of the discount is not going to the patient." He added, "We're seeing a lot of discussion that net prices have stabilized over the last few years, and that does appear to be the case."
