A new paper published in JAMA Health Forum describes an association between alcohol use and recreational cannabis laws. Dr. Rahi Abouk co-authored the paper with CP3's Vandana Macha and Dr. Coleman Drake. “Overall, our study suggests that state policymakers have to monitor these increases in alcohol use as it may have considerable health care costs,” Dr. Abouk told The Washington Times. As noted in The Hill, the authors caution, “Our findings suggest that these gains may need to be considered against the increased costs of alcohol use among young adults and men.”
