Essien Stresses Importance of Collecting Racial/Ethnic Vaccine Data

Many Pennsylvania COVID vaccine providers have not been collecting race and ethnicity data for people that have been vaccinated. CP3 Faculty Affiliate Dr. Utibe Essien reminds us of the importance of collecting these data.  “If we don’t have data, it’s hard to tell which communities are under-receiving the vaccine or if it’s an issue of vaccine hesitancy, or if it’s a lack of mobility,” he told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “We need to make sure there is both universal reporting and collection of this data.”
